Dunkleosteus
Some stories are born from imagination, but others emerge from a deep love for knowledge. "Dunkleosteus" is a unique children's non-fiction book dedicated to one of the most fearsome creatures of the ancient seas - Dunkleosteus terrelli. Written by a passionate father who wanted to inspire his son to read more, the book brings prehistoric marine life to vivid detail. The family’s shared fascination with natural history and museum visits sparked this project, filling a surprising gap, no books about this incredible armored fish existed. So, the father decided to create one himself.

Illustration Approach
The task was to craft immersive, scientifically accurate, yet visually engaging illustrations that would captivate young readers. My goal was to transport them into the prehistoric ocean, making them feel the thrill of encountering Dunkleosteus in its natural habitat.
Creative Execution
Using Photoshop and digital painting techniques, I created over ten detailed raster illustrations, carefully balancing realism with an exciting atmosphere. The prehistoric underwater world was brought to life with dramatic lighting, rich textures, and dynamic compositions. From ferocious hunting scenes to serene ocean depths, each artwork aimed to spark curiosity and wonder.
Final Result
The project was a deeply personal one for the client, and delivering high-quality visuals that matched his vision was incredibly rewarding. The book, complete with a striking cover illustration, is now not just a reading tool but a cherished memory, a gift from father to son that transforms a shared passion into a lifelong fascination.
